Public hearing set for street change

EPHRATA — The Grant County Board of Commissioners will take public comment at 1:30 p.m. April 27 on a proposal to vacate a portion of a platted road and alley at the Trinidad townsite west of Quincy.

The hearing will be online.

A street or alley vacation means transferring a section of the public right of way to a private property owner.

Grant County Engineer Keith Elefson said the street and alley are laid out in the Trinidad town plat, but they never were developed as a street or an alley.

“It (the Trinidad townsite) is very much different from the way it was platted,” Elefson said.

Public works officials have reviewed the proposal to ensure it won’t have an adverse impact on transportation, he said.

The section requested for vacation is partially developed for commercial uses and partially undeveloped.

The property is about a quarter-mile south of the intersection of Crescent Bar Road Northwest and Road W.8 Northwest. More detailed location information is available by contacting the Grant County Public Works Department.
