Moses Lake Fire Department responds to brush fire

| April 5, 2021 1:00 AM

The Moses Lake Fire Department responded at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday to a brush fire in a field adjacent to the 800 block of Wheeler Road.

Firefighters were still at the scene as of 4 p.m. The cause is under investigation.

Grant County Fire District 5 provided mutual aid.

Firefighters were at an approximately 40-acre wildland fire within the city of Moses Lake, stated a report from Moses Lake Firefighters Local 1258 Sunday. “Challenges in containment were due to the fire burning in marshland, which made it difficult to access the fire with fire apparatus.”

“No structures (were) damaged or lost, and no injuries have been reported,” it continued. “The cause of the fire is under investigation and there will be further updates to that once the fire is completely contained.”

The fire was contained at about 8 p.m., and most firefighters cleared the scene.
