The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, September 29, 2020
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
The East will remain the focal point of unsettled weather
tomorrow as a slow-moving storm system continues to impact
the region. A swath of drenching rain with a few
thunderstorms is expected to stretch from Florida to New
York state. The heaviest rain and greatest flood risk is
likely to set up across the southern Atlantic Seaboard,
where locally gusty storms are also possible. Showers will
cool the upper Great Lakes, while milder air briefly returns
to the northern Plains. The South Central states can expect
a dry, pleasant day. An expansive area of high pressure will
create a heat dome out West, with temperatures soaring into
the 80s, 90s and even the triple digits. After a few gusty
days in California, the wind will die down, but the hot, dry
weather will keep the fire threat high.
