FRUITS OF LABOR - PALM OIL — Chart. Global demand for palm oil, which is found in half the items on supermarket shelves and in most cosmetic products, has skyrocketed over the past few decades. An AP investigation into the invisible workforce of millions of laborers toiling in the palm oil industry in Malaysia and Indonesia found many of them suffering from various forms of exploitation.
