U.S. stocks are closing sharply lower as losses accelerated in afternoon trading Wednesday. Technology stocks dragged major indexes down as Wall Street’s tumultuous month continues to churn. Apple lost 4.2% and Amazon sank 4.1%. The S&P 500 gave up 2.4% in the latest erratic trading dominated by several shifts in momentum recently. The Dow and the Nasdaq also fell.
