Wall Street closing sharply lower as tech sector takes hit
U.S. stocks are closing sharply lower as losses accelerated in afternoon trading Wednesday. Technology stocks dragged major indexes down as Wall Street’s tumultuous month continues to churn. Apple lost 4.2% and Amazon sank 4.1%. The S&P 500 gave up 2.4% in the latest erratic trading dominated by several shifts in momentum recently. The Dow and the Nasdaq also fell. Nike jumped to one of the biggest gains in the S&P 500 after reporting stronger profit than analysts expected. Airlines and other companies that would benefit from a reopening economy rose slightly.
