Eleventh Adams County resident dies from coronavirus

RITZVILLE — Adams County Health Department officials have announced the death of an 11th Adams County resident due to complications from COVID-19. The patient, a 63-year-old man from Ritzville, died Sept. 8. His death was announced Sept. 17.

The man had underlying conditions that contributed to increased risk for serious complications, according to an ACHD press release. Health department officials wait to release announcements of coronavirus-related deaths until the disease can be verified as the cause or a significant contributing factor.

As of Sept. 21, one person was hospitalized.

The health department reported 47 new cases of coronavirus from Sept. 15 through 21. Of the new cases, 45 are in Othello and two in Ritzville.

Since the pandemic began Othello has reported 775 cases, according to the ACHD, and 37 cases have been reported in Ritzville. Eight cases have been reported in Hatton, four in Lind, one in Benge and one in Washtucna.
