MOSES LAKE — Due to poor air quality, a free COVID-19 testing event planned for Moses Lake on Thursday has been canceled, the Grant County Health District said in a statement.

Events scheduled for Friday at the Grant County Fairgrounds near Moses Lake and Saturday at Quincy High School are still expected to go forward as planned, according to the district. Testing will be available both days, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with no appointment or insurance required.

“We have been monitoring the smoke forecast all week and unfortunately we are cancelling the free COVID-19 Testing Event in Moses Lake on Thursday,” wrote Stephanie Shopbell, environmental health manager for Grant County Health District. “The smoke is predicted to start clearing tomorrow and the forecast for Thursday and Friday is for better air quality.”

Walk-up testing will be available both Friday and Saturday, but drive-up is preferred. Spanish and Russian translators will be on-site.
