The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, September 15, 2020

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

Sally will slam into the central Gulf Coast tomorrow as a

hurricane. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge

flooding will threaten southeastern Louisiana, to the far

western Florida Panhandle. As Sally's forward movement slows

as it nears land and moves inland, significant and

life-threatening flash flooding is expected. Elsewhere in

the Southeast, a few showers and thunderstorms will pop up

along an old frontal boundary draped across Tennessee and

Georgia. Spotty showers may also dampen central and southern

Texas. Pleasant, sunny conditions will be had from the

central Plains to the Northeast as high pressure dominates.

The Pacific Northwest will get some smoke and wildfire

relief as rain arrives. Meanwhile, hazy conditions and poor

air quality will persist farther south.
