The Nation's Weather for Friday, September 11, 2020

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

Warm and humid air will extend from the southern Plains to

the Southeast and mid-Atlantic tomorrow. A surge of tropical

moisture will fuel shower and thunderstorm activity across

much of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. In the wake of a

passing cold front, cooler and more comfortable air will

settle in from the Great Lakes to the Northeast. A storm

system will develop over the north-central United States and

bring locally heavy rain and thunderstorms to portions of

the Plains. While winds continue to lessen across the West

and hopes of containment grow, the risk for new wildfires

will still remain high as dryness persists across the

region.
