MESA — A Lind man was injured when the car he was driving was hit by another car in the intersection of SR-17 and Pepiot Road in Mesa Sept. 4.

Richard Ledgerwood, 60, was hit in the intersection by a car driven by Melanie Rankin, 58, Othello, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol. Ledgerwood was driving south on Pepiot Road, while Rankin was driving north.

Both cars stopped at the stop signs, then hit each other when they tried to cross the intersection, the WSP memo said. Ledgerwood’s car then hit a light pole. He was transported to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco. Rankin was not injured.

Rankin was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
