OTHELLO — Lions Park in Othello will be getting some major upgrades, with an improved playground and new basketball courts.
The work is funded entirely by grants from the state, the Othello Lions Club and Columbia Basin Health Association, according to Mayor Shawn Logan.
The new and improved playground will cover 7,000 square feet and will include separate areas for older kids and children 5 and under, with its gravel surface replaced by something more suited to a playground. There will be four new basketball courts, replacing the existing two and adding two more. The tennis courts will remain.
Logan estimated the work will be completed by 2022.
