Trespassers find body in abandoned home south of Spokane

VALLEYFORD, Wash. (AP) — A woman being held in the Whitman County Jail recently told law enforcement officers that she found a body in the garage of an abandoned-looking home in Valleyford, which is just south of Spokane.

Spokane County sheriff’s deputies then searched the property and found the homeowner’s body inside a vehicle in the garage,

The Spokesman-Review reports that Ashley Baird was arrested on another charge and told deputies she found the body about a month ago while searching the home, which appeared abandoned.

Spokane County deputies obtained a search warrant and discovered the body.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner ruled the homeowner’s death as a suicide.
