| October 16, 2020 1:00 AM

March 25, 1929 – October 7, 2020

Patricia (Pat) Smart was born in Veradale, Washington, on March 25, 1929, to Charles David Jenkins and Clara Bell (Barger) Jenkins. She was the ninth of 11 children. She is the last of the Jenkins siblings.

Shortly after her graduation from John R. Rogers High School, she met Stanley W. Smart, and after a three months’ courtship, they eloped to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Dec. 24, 1947.

They moved to Tacoma in 1949 and then to Gig Harbor in 1970. Pat retired from the City of Tacoma in 1985 after 30 years of service. In 1995, after Stanley retired, they moved to Moses Lake.

Pat’s and Stanley’s conversion to Christ was in 1975 in Gig Harbor. They became active in evangelism, altar work and lay counseling. After moving to Moses Lake, they became active members at the Moses Lake Alliance Church. Stanley went to be with the Lord in 2003. They were married 56 years when he passed.

She loved her Lord and her family and friends. They were her joy and she poured her life into her relationships. Pat was confined to her home for many years because of health issues and stayed very busy calling friends, distant and local, and having tea with various friends. She made cards and bookmarks and gave them freely to everyone she came in contact with. She enjoyed being able to share them with people.

Pat went to be in the presence of her blessed Lord and Savior on Oct. 7, 2020, after a long illness. During this illness, she has been loved and cared for by many friends and family. Thank you to Roz and Sam Grogan, Dr. Jill Simon, Millie and Edd Rhoadarmer, Marilyn and Justin Schuck, Sharon and Mark Blazer, Pat and Steve Gordon, Beth Van Auken, Linda (John) Cheatwood Ostrander, Judy Lynch and many others who loved on her over the years and Hospice who came alongside her last days.

Pat is survived by Stan’s son, Charles (wife Judy) Halstead; three grandchildren Noelle Crandall, Heidi Halstead and Charlie Halstead; four great-grandchildren David Crandall, Coral Ringer, Chaz Halstead and Chance Halstead and three great-great-grandchildren Emery, Devin and Adelle. She is also survived by her nieces Barbara Snow and Carol Bond and nephews Greg (Laura) Jenkins, David Jenkins and Dale Jenkins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley, 10 brothers and sisters and other nieces and nephews.

There are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Serve Moses Lake or the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane.
