Letter: Show respect for those lost to COVID-19

| October 15, 2020 1:00 AM

I read letters to the editor to get perspectives from others, wanting to know how they feel. I am not writing this to try to change anyone's mind about the current situation in this nation. I am writing because of a sentence in a letter on Thursday, Oct. 8 that I personally find offensive: "Why ruin the economy and bankrupt the country for a few people's lives?"

Those people were parents, spouses, children and friends to some of us. I find it very hard to accept the casual indifference the letter writer gives to those lost lives. Yes, this pandemic has been very hard on many people and caused many economic problems, but please don't disrespect the people lost because of this virus.
