MOSES LAKE — A new project sponsored by the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center has the goal of using art to help connect with people isolated by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Museum manager Dollie Boyd said people can pick up Project Postcard packets through the end of October. The postcards feature original black-and-white drawings commissioned from local artists; participants can pick up a postcard packet at the museum, 401 S. Balsam St.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Participants are asked to color the pictures and write an encouraging message on the card, then return them to the museum by Nov. 6. The cards will be distributed to residents of extended-care facilities and assisted-living homes, as well as health care facilities and their workers.

“We’ve already had some interest,” she said. Boys and Girls Club staffers have asked for packets, and they’ve been picked up by leaders of a local Boy Scout troop.

The project is not just for kids. Anybody capable of holding a crayon is invited to participate, Boyd said.

“Actually, markers work best,” she said.
