MLSD offers free home internet to qualifying students
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake School District is providing free at-home internet hookups for students who qualify.
According to MLSD spokesperson Claren McLoughlin, the statewide Washington K-12 Internet Access Program is available to students and families who were eligible for free or reduced-price school meals in the 2020-21 school year and did not already have an internet connection at home before August 2020.
There is no cost to qualifying families, and the deadline for applying is Dec. 31. However, families must pay for any damaged or lost equipment, and service is only through June 30, 2021. After that date, internet service is the family’s responsibility, according to MLSD.
Parents can apply for state-provided internet access by filling out an online form at www.surveymonkey.com/r/FreeSchoolInternetWA. For more information, contact MLSD’s information technology office at 509-766-2698.
The program is being paid for by funds appropriated by Congress and given to the states as part of the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act passed in April.
