OLYMPIA — One of the many signs of fall is hunting season – a lot of different hunting seasons, actually. Most general hunting seasons are scheduled to open in October.

The general mule deer season opens Oct. 17 in most of Central Washington, including Grant and Adams counties. The season closes Oct. 27. Bag limit is one buck, which must be at least a three point.

The early archery deer season is over, but there’s a late archery season in central Washington, from Nov. 21 through 30. The North Central Washington areas open for late archery deer season are game management units near Oroville, Omak, Manson and Leavenworth. Bag limit is one buck, a three-point minimum.

Most of North Central Washington will be open to elk hunting from Oct. 31 through Nov. 15. The area between Tonasket and Republic will be closed to elk hunting, and so will the game management units that include Leavenworth and Wenatchee. Bag limit is one elk of either sex.

General pheasant season opens Oct. 24 throughout eastern Washington and closes Jan. 18, 2021. Hunting is restricted to male birds only, with a three-bird daily bag limit and a limit of 15 birds in a hunter’s possession.

Quail season in Eastern Washington opened Oct. 3 and runs through Jan. 18. The daily bag limit is 10 of either sex, with a limit of 30 birds in a hunter’s possession. The hunting seasons for chukars, gray partridges and northern bobwhite are the same dates. Bag limits for chukars and gray partridges are six birds of either sex.

The season is limited to valley quail only; mountain quail season is closed in Eastern Washington.

The statewide duck season opens Oct. 28 and closes Jan. 31, 2021. Bag limit is seven birds, with a limit of 21 birds in possession at any time.

In Central Washington, Canada goose season opens Nov. 7, with the season open through Jan. 31, 2021. But goose hunting throughout Central Washington is restricted to Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday only. Hunting will be allowed every day from Jan. 25 to 31.
