US stocks drift in early trading a day after a broad rally
NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are drifting between small gains and losses in early trading on Wall Street a day after a broad rally. The S&P 500 was little changed in the first few minutes after the opening bell, while weakness in technology stocks pulled the Nasdaq slightly lower. Traders will be looking ahead to a speech later Tuesday by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and they’ll be hoping for progress in talks between the White House and Congress on delivering more help for an economy badly bruised by coronavirus shutdowns. The price of crude oil rose and overseas markets made modest gains.
