_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

A cold front will swing through the Northeast tomorrow,

bringing rain and gusty winds, while a few showers chill the

upper Great Lakes. Temperatures will drop 5-10 degrees

below normal across New England and the mid-Atlantic behind

this front on Thursday. Stray showers will dampen the

Florida Peninsula, while Hurricane Delta will continue to

gain strength in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The powerful

hurricane is forecast to make landfall along the central

Gulf Coast late in the week. The rest of the Southeast will

be dry and sunny. Dry, sunny and very warm conditions are

expected from the interior West to the Rockies,

south-central Plains and lower Ohio Valley. Such conditions

will remain conducive for wildfire activity out West.
