NATIONAL SUMMARY

A steady rain is expected to fall during the afternoon hours

in coastal New England tomorrow. Elsewhere in New England,

occasional rain and drizzle can occur at any time. Showers

will continue to pester the Great Lakes, with even a few

snowflakes possible early in the day in the Upper Peninsula

of Michigan. Thunderstorms will rumble across the far

southern part of the Florida Peninsula and in the Keys. A

few spotty, light showers may dampen the western and central

Dakotas. The balance of the nation is expected to be dry.

The lack of rain with extreme heat in the West will continue

to be detriment to the firefighting efforts. Temperatures in

portions of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys will

surpass the century mark while some of the hottest desert

locations eclipse 110 F.
