Letter: Who’s right to represent District 13?

| October 1, 2020 1:00 AM

I’m voting for Tom Dent. Not for his campaign signs, party affiliation or the number of years I’ve known him.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because of his many years as a small business owner. That means managing a budget and paying bills. It means making a payroll.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because of his many years of being a professional pilot. A strong background in aviation is highly beneficial when representing the district containing Grant County International Airport, a continually growing facility attracting many good paying jobs.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because he operates an active ranch. His knowledge of cattle, agriculture and irrigation issues is imperative to understanding what farmers and ranchers face every day.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because he led the effort to get affordable child care and early learning legislation passed. This brought financial relief to child care providers and families with young children.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because of his continued effort to find answers to forest management and fish habitat issues, improving outdoor recreation and commercial industries.

I’m voting for Tom Dent because he has done an excellent job as our representative for our district as well as our state. We are fortunate that he has been willing to serve.
