1st female Senate majority leader elected in N. Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Senate Republicans picked Sen. Kathy Harrington on Monday to be the next majority leader, putting a woman in that position for the first time since the chamber created it over 40 years ago.
