MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake School District announced late Friday that students at Larson Heights Elementary will spend Thanksgiving week remote learning at home.

Due to rising COVID-19 cases and absences, Grant County Health District recommended Larson Heights close for a week, the district said on a notice posted on its website.

Students will stay home beginning Monday, Nov. 23, and are set to return to classes on Monday, Nov. 30.

According to the MLSD’s COVID-19 dashboard, of the district’s 24 staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19 during the past 14 days, three are at Larson Heights and three are at Sage Point, which went to all online education last week.

“To avoid future closures, and to protect yourself and others, we must work together as a community to follow the basic guidelines to prevent COVID-19, including maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet away from people from outside your own household, wearing a mask in public, washing hands regularly, and not hosting or attending large gatherings,” the district advised parents and students.

Students receiving free meals will be able to pick them up at Larson Heights between 11 a.m. and noon, the district said.
