August 15, 1940 – October 28, 2020

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Olivia A. Hernandez of Moses Lake, Washington, on Oct. 28, 2020, at the age of 80.

Olivia was born on Aug. 15, 1940, in Cartersville, Montana, to Macedonio and Rosario Hernandez. She was one of five children. Following years of migrating from Texas to Washington the family made their permanent residence in Moses Lake in 1962.

Olivia worked 26 years at Carnation/Simplot as a trim room coordinator, retiring in 2000. She was the founder of the former Our Lady of Fatima Hispanic Funeral Plan and also served as public relations officer of the Washington State Tejano Association in which she took great pride. Olivia was also a breast cancer survivor.

Olivia will be remembered for her great strength and faith in the Catholic Church and her devotion to La Virgen De Guadalupe. She also had a great love for family and friends, and she loved attending family brunches and playing loteria. She took pride in her home and up keep of her yard. She also loved Tejano music and found great joy in attending dances and concerts. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to help out those in need with her wonderful words of wisdom.

She is survived by her sister Antonia Gonzales; her nieces Yolanda (Jose) Cavazos, Susie De La Cruz, Betty (Ray) Sosa and family of Grand Prairie, Texas, Imelda (Robert) Hipolito, Alexandrea Hipolito and her daughters Avianna and Amaree, Robert E. Hipolito Jr., Noyola and Gonzales familes and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for deeply. She is preceded in her death by her parents Macedonio and Rosario Hernandez, her sister Belen H, Noyola, brothers Alejandro and Alfredo Hernandez and her companion Angel Santos, as well as nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her close neighbors and friends for their support and kindness throughout her life. We would also like to thank doctors and nurses at Samaritan Clinic, Samaritan Hospital and Confluence and the staff at Avalon Rehabilitation center in Pasco who took great care of her in her final days. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace.

Sabemos, que ella si esta en La Gloria.
