August 18, 1965 – October 11, 2020

The world lost a loving soul, Joy Elizabeth Maiers, on Oct. 11, 2020. She devoted her life to her children and family, always ready to lend a helping hand or hug. Joy passed away at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, surrounded by family. Born on Aug. 18, 1965, in Seattle,Washington, Joy moved to the Columbia Basin with loving parents Barbara and Pamp Maiers in the 1970s.

Joy worked as an esthetician so she could help people look and feel wonderful in their own skin. In recent years, she even proudly acquired her CDL and would participate in Grant County’s potato harvest season. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her plants, walking the beaches of Maui, giggling with her nieces and nephews and cuddling her two toy poodles. Her friends and colleagues knew her for her great sense of humor and her giving and caring soul, always going to the ends of the earth for not only her own children but orphans as well. After a few medical missions to Nigeria with the Moses Lake Lions Club, she became more involved in helping orphans by constantly gathering donations to be sent to Africa and Central and South America. She admired the Hispanic culture so much so that she was proud to have Spanish as her second language, always eager to connect with other people.

Joy is survived by her daughter Skye Blu, her daughter Shaysta Moon, her son Garland, her parents Barbara and Pamp Maiers, her seven siblings and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Wade and her grandparents. A private burial for her family was held on Oct. 16 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. She now rests in peace next to her grandparents, whom she missed dearly. Friends wishing to honor Joy are invited to donate in her name to their local children’s hospitals, international children’s organizations, and motherhood organizations.

She is adored and missed by many hearts around the world.
