Grant, Adams counties see a few more COVID-19 cases

MOSES LAKE/OTHELLO — Not much change was made in COVID-19 cases in Grant and Adams counties between Monday, May 18, and Friday, May 22. Both Grant and Adams county health departments were closed over the Memorial Day weekend and did not issue new numbers.

As of May 22, Grant County had 198 confirmed cases, up six from May 18. Mattawa had the most change, adding three new cases for a total of 49 confirmed cases. Second in growth was Quincy with 73 cases, up two from Monday. Moses Lake had one new case, bringing its total to 37 cases.

Royal City, Warden, Soap Lake, Ephrata and the Grand Coulee/Electric City area all held steady, with the same number of cases as they had on Monday, May 11.

As of May 22, Grant County had 2,459 negative tests and 96 tests pending. Two people were hospitalized and 34 individuals are considered to be probable cases. One hundred six people are listed as recovered.

Of the county’s 198 confirmed cases, 92 have been male while 106 have been female. Fourteen of the cases have been in newborns to 18 years old. In the 19- to 40-year-old age range, there have been 86 cases. There have been 68 cases in the 41- to 60-year-old age range. Twenty-nine cases have been in those 61 to 80 years old. Only one person over the age of 80 has had COVID-19 in Grant County.

Adams County had an increase of three confirmed cases between May 18, and May 22, bringing its count to 54. So far, 480 tests have been sent out. Of those, 404 have come back negative. Nine tests are pending. Fifty-one of the 54 confirmed cases have recovered.

All of the new cases were in Othello. Forty-six people in Othello have recovered. There have not been any new cases in Lind and Ritzville since April 27.
