City of Mattawa to investigate port, school district water rights

MATTAWA — The Mattawa City Council approved two contracts during its Thursday, May 21 meeting that will move the city forward toward obtaining water rights from the Port of Mattawa and the Wahluke School District. The contracts are with Aspect Consulting.

The Port of Mattawa commissioners have discussed splitting the cost of the study regarding the port’s water rights with the city. They will vote on a duplicate copy of the contract. At some time in the future, the city will give a presentation to the Wahluke School Board.

Both contracts were passed unanimously by the city council.
