MATTAWA — The city of Mattawa is tentatively scheduling summer cleanup for June 26 through 28. Public Works Director Juan Ledezma discussed the current plans with the city council during a regular council meeting on Thursday, May 21.

“Spring cleaning got switched over to summer cleanup,” Ledezma said.

Spring cleaning was canceled due to COVID-19.

Under current plans, summer cleanup will be a three-day event for Mattawa city residents. Four disposal containers will be provided to the city starting Friday, June 26.

“Typically they are full by the end of Saturday,” Ledezma said.

The purpose of the cleanup day is to help keep residences in compliance with city code. In the past, yard waste, appliances and furniture have been accepted. This year, the council has suggested that some additional services be offered. Ledezma is working to see what requests he can fulfill.

Mattawa residents wishing to take advantage of the summer cleanup must bring proof of residency, such as a water bill or ID with a Mattawa address. Waste will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
