MOSES LAKE — Dollie Boyd has been hired as manager of the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center.

Boyd replaces Freya Ligget, who resigned in February 2019 to take a job in Spokane.

Boyd comes to Moses Lake from Greeneville, Tenn., where she was director of museums at Tusculum University. One of the most important museums on campus was the Doak House, which was the home of the college’s founder and was built in the early 1800s.

Boyd said the Moses Lake museum presents a contrast to her previous job.

“I love the facility (Moses Lake museum). It is beautiful, modern — quite a change from where I was before,” she said.

Boyd said few changes will be made right away, but as time goes on she plans to rearrange the museum exhibit space and gift shop.

“I’m happy to be here,” she said. “I’m looking forward to digging in and meeting people in the community. Very excited about the opportunity.”

Boyd has a degree in theater and a graduate degree in museum management. In addition to working in museums, she has experience as a high school teacher.
