Wi-Fi hot spots installed for public use

EPHRATA — Area agencies are providing Wi-Fi hot spots to the public in partnership with the Washington State Broadband Office.

On May 11, the Grant County PUD announced that it had installed hot spots capable of reaching up to 750 feet at various locations around the county. The hot spots are located at the Warden Community Center, 114 N Oak St.; Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District, 11522 First Ave SE, Royal Camp and the Port of Mattawa office, 20140 Road 24 SW Suite G. The Grant PUD said that this is the first wave of Wi-Fi hot spots that it is installing.

Other agencies are providing Wi-Fi hot spots at the Mattawa Community Library, 101 Manson Lane; Volviendo A La Biblia Church, 20446 A St. SW, Beverly; the Royal Community Library, 136 Camelia St. NW, Royal City; Mid-Columbia Libraries Othello Branch, 101 E. Main St.; Warden Community Library, 305 S. Main Ave. and the Warden School District, 101 Beck Way.

The Washington State Department of Commerce website is tracking all of the public access hot spots. According to the website, internet access is being made available to all residents, especially students and those using the internet for telework, telehealth, unemployment filing, job searches and census participation. Hot spot access protocols are subject to the agencies providing the free service.
