NATIONAL SUMMARY

The same storm system that unleashed flooding rainfall on

the Midwest will target the southern Appalachians tomorrow.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms will reach as far east as the

coast of the Carolinas by the afternoon. Rain will wind down

across the Midwest, while the Northeast remains dry. Dry and

warm conditions will persist over the center of the country,

while portions of New Mexico and Texas heat up to summerlike

levels. Dry, warm and gusty winds will elevate the fire

danger over portions of the Four Corners region. Showers and

thunderstorms will persist over much of the northwestern

United States, where a few higher-elevation snow showers are

also possible.
