MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake-Othello Association of Realtors will sponsor a food drive for the Moses Lake Food Bank from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 19, at the former Windermere office, 2900 W. Broadway Ave. Realtors association president Kandi Bersanti said it’s a drive-thru event, with the parking lot set up with in and out lanes.

“We’ll have arrows (in the parking lot) where you can just drive up and hand us the bag,” she said.

Organizers are looking for donations of cans, boxes and bags of non-perishable food. The association will also accept donations of money.

“Every little bit helps,” she said.

The drive-in donation setup is a response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Restrictions were placed on movement and business by Gov. Jay Inslee as a result of the outbreak, which led, among other things, to increased unemployment. A Realtor in the Moses Lake-Othello group called Bersanti and asked her what the association could do to help the community, she said.

With more people unemployed, donating to the food bank seemed like a good project, she said.

All food and money collected will be donated to the food bank. Bersanti said they had not set a goal, although they’d really like to fill up the food bank truck.

“We want to do whatever we can do to support our community,” she said.
