Wahluke schools close learning gap
MATTAWA — Four Wahluke School District schools have received awards for closing the learning gap for their students. While the students might not be at the state level yet, there have been strides made to get them closer to that level, according to Interim Superintendent Andy Harlow.
Morris Schott Elementary School was recognized for closing gaps for one or more student groups. Saddle Mountain Elementary School closed the gaps for all students. Sentinel Tech Alternative School saw growth in students who are English learners. Wahluke Junior High School was recognized for closing gaps for one or more student groups.
Harlow said that this is a three-year trend for the Wahluke schools. The data used was from the 2018-2019 school year.
The honor was given by the Yakima Education Service District 105 and awarded to 22 schools. The list of schools was released on April 22.
