Regional library suspends some services

WENATCHEE — The North Central Regional Library will suspend most of its services, beginning today, following an order from Gov. Jay Inslee restricting most movement within the state. Regional library director Barbara Walters said the reopening date is still to be determined.

“We will evaluate the situation regularly and make decisions based on current recommendations from public health and government leaders,” Walters wrote in a press release.

In Grant County, NCRL libraries are in Moses Lake, Ephrata, Quincy, Warden, Mattawa, Royal City, Soap Lake, George and Coulee City.

The NCRL will suspend its mail order services, and book returns will be closed. Library patrons are asked not to return any books or other library materials during the shutdown.

People who have questions are asked to email info@ncrl.org, since phones aren’t staffed. Any items on hold won’t be sent, and patrons can’t put library materials on hold. Items on hold will be sent when the library reopens, Walters wrote.

The library’s catalog of online books, online audio books, online magazines and other materials still will be available, Walters said. Library district residents can take out a temporary online card.
