Syrian president issues amnesty, reduces sentences

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syrian President Bashar Assad granted amnesty and reduced sentences for all crimes committed before Sunday, while also offering amnesty to military deserters who turn themselves in within the next few months.
