Odessa’s Stumpjumpers Desert 100 canceled
ODESSA — Outdoor racers and dirt bike enthusiasts will have to wait another year for the 50th Stumpjumpers Desert 100.
The annual race through the Odessa scablands was canceled, according to the event’s Facebook page.
“Unfortunately the gate is going to stay closed this April,” the post read. “Due to many factors, including our interest in protecting our riders, racers, SJMC members, volunteers, and the community of Odessa, we are going to have to reschedule the 50th Annual Kenda Stumpjumpers Desert 100 to April 3 and 4, 2021.”
Any riders already registered will be qualified for the 2021 event and the organizers plan to reach out to discuss options, the post continued.
“Obviously, this is an unprecedented occurrence to have the event canceled by a pandemic, so we are still working through the details of how this will shake out,” the post read.
The Stumpjumpers Desert 100 is a two-day event that culminates in a 100-mile race through Odessa’s channeled scablands.
