Stratford Road resurfacing delayed

MOSES LAKE — Scheduled improvements on four miles of Stratford Road have been delayed at least until next year. Grant County Commissioner Cindy Carter said the delay was due to a decrease in revenue from gas taxes.

County engineer Keith Elefson said the project will be resubmitted for bid in early 2021.

“We are hoping that is the only project affected, but that could change based on revenue,” Elefson said.

Four miles of Stratford Road, from Road 12 Northeast to Road 16 Northeast, was scheduled for drainage improvements and resurfacing. When the project goes forward, the existing surface will be covered with a mix of tar and rock, a process called chip-sealing.

The project will cost an estimated $1.7 million. The county will pay for $750,000 to $850,000 of that, plus about $100,000 in engineering costs.
