Quincy man dies in accident

QUINCY ­­— A Quincy man died early Friday morning when he lost control of his vehicle southwest of Ephrata, Grant County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Augustine Gallegos Jr., 22, of Quincy, was traveling at high speed eastbound on Road 9 Northwest approaching Road H Northwest when the left-rear tire on the 2003 Honda Accord he was driving blew out. The blowout caused Gallegos to lose control, and the vehicle slid off the south side of the roadway. The car rolled two and a half times and ended on its top. Gallegos was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Gallegos was confirmed dead by emergency responders on the scene after lifesaving efforts were performed. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident. Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit will investigate.
