City to replace traffic light equipment

| June 16, 2020 11:13 PM

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake will replace the mechanism of a traffic light at the intersection of Valley Road and Central Drive that is not working properly.

Municipal services director Fred Snoderly said the traffic light was damaged while construction workers were replacing water mains along Valley Road.

“Due to construction, it’s not working like it should,” Snoderly said.

The damage affected the mechanism controlling how long the light stays red or green. Currently, it is controlled by a timer, leading to longer than normal waiting times, Snoderly said.

“We understand this causes delays in getting through the intersection and have done all we can to adjust the timing of that light,” he said.

The equipment is projected to arrive and be installed in mid-August.

“That will get it back to a normal operating cycle,” he said.
