Kelly Scott Peterson

| June 2, 2020 8:57 PM

Kelly Scott Peterson passed away peacefully at age 53 on May 14, 2020, at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, Washington.

He was born in Richland on June 16, 1966. Growing up, Kelly loved animals and his beloved dog Sasha was always by his side. He enjoyed 4-H and showing pigs at the fair. He grew up loving farm work, especially bailing and harrow beading hay. He learned mechanics from his grandfather Thompson and uncle Bill. Many family members benefited from his labor in fixing their cars and motorcycles.

He had a passion for speed! Kelly loved water skiing, jet skiing, motorcycles (leaving one behind for his granddaughter), snowmobiling, four-wheeling, boating, and parasailing. He loved flying remote-controlled drones and planes. Kelly was talented in music; he played the drums at church and guitar, and he loved the excitement of showing others a good time.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and his nieces and nephews loved to laugh with him. His daughter was on his mind a lot and he loved her, Cory and his Aliyanna too. In the last years he loved driving semi-trucks, working hard and being on the road.

He loved his many brothers and sisters. He saved some of their lives when he was 10 years old from a house fire, escaping with only a small burn on his hand. He was a quick thinker during emergencies.

He left behind his daughter Kimberly Peterson, her boyfriend Cory, and his granddaughter Aliyanna; parents Darrell Peterson, Faith and Terry Thompson; siblings Loren, Nelsy and Daren Peterson, Lachell Lloyd, John, Jenn, James, Misty, Aaron, Sam, Michelle, Terry and Roz Thompson and Kristy, Todd and Sean Oakley, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his stepmother Kim Peterson; grandmothers Bobbie Stanger, Marcella Thompson and Louise Peterson; grandfathers Leland Peterson, John Thompson and Kenny Richardson; brother Kevin Peterson and sister Kimberly Peterson.

May Kelly rest in peace and keep on truckin’! A memorial for celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
