OTHELLO — The Legacy Golf Course and Resort at Frenchman Hills in Othello will host its second annual Special Olympics Fundraising Tournament on Saturday.

Money raised from the tournament will go toward funding the Special Olympics, while prizes from Legacy Golf Course will be handed out for participants.

Due to COVID-19, the weekend event won’t feature any athletes from the organization this year. Other guidelines will be in place, including no rakes or ball washers and other revisions to ensure risk of contamination is limited.

Legacy Pro Shop Manager Noelle Beaushaw said there were some delays for the tournament this year due to COVID-19, and added they were a little late with getting the word out. Despite the challenges, she said it was important to still be able to hold the annual fundraising event.

As of Thursday afternoon, the fundraising tournament had 10 two-person teams signed up, with registration still open. Registration for the tournament costs $60, including cart fees, with a $10 discount for golfers with their own cart.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, with a shotgun start scheduled for 8 a.m.
