NATIONAL SUMMARY

Thunderstorms will rumble in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky

and Arkansas and could cause flooding on the local level

tomorrow. Elsewhere, storms will be less numerous in the

northern Plains. Much of the rest of the nation will be dry.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Isaias will move between Cuba and

the Bahamas. Extreme heat will continue in portions of the

interior Northwest, where record highs are possible. Records

will also be challenged in the Desert Southwest, where some

locations are expected to get over 120 degrees. The central

and northern Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast are forecast

to have seasonable temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Highs in

the 90s will be common in much of the Southeast.
