Othello School district hires new communications director

OTHELLO — Ed Petersen started work as the new communications director for Othello School District on July 1.

Petersen was the communications director at Centralia School District for seven years, his first job in education. He previously worked in broadcast media in Washington, Idaho and Nevada.

A friend who took a teaching job in Othello tipped Petersen off to the newly-created communications director position in the district.

“It’s an opportunity to help build a new communications program,” he said.

Petersen said he enjoys working in a smaller school district that might not have the same resources as a larger one.
