New COVID-19 cases continue to increase

MOSES LAKE/OTHELLO — The number of positive cases of COVID-19 continues to rise in both Grant and Adams counties.

In Grant County, the number of new cases, as of Monday, July 20, was 990, up from 858 on Monday, July 13. Over the past week, the number of cases in Royal City jumped from 85 to 96. Warden saw an increase of ten cases, bringing the total to 38 cases. In Mattawa, the number of confirmed cases went from 209 to 236 cases.

In the rest of the county, the Quincy area went from 205 cases last Monday to 226 on Monday. Ephrata added 21 cases, bringing the total to 79 cases. The number of cases in Moses Lake jumped from 236 to 273. In the rural part of Grant County in the Othello area, three new cases were added, bringing the total to 15 cases. The Grand Coulee area had one new case, for four confirmed cases. There is one unconfirmed case in the Coulee City/Hartline area. The number of cases in Soap Lake stayed the same at 21 cases.

The number of individuals hospitalized has dropped from 11 last Monday to six this Monday. No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported this week. So far, 464 individuals have recovered.

Of those tested positive for COVID-19, 509 are male and 480 are female. One hundred fifty-four are in the newborn to 18-year-old age range. Of those 19 to 40 years old, 446 have tested positive. Two hundred seventy-one individuals in the 41- to 60-year-old range have tested positive. Of those 61 to 80 years old, 98 have tested positive. In those 80 years old and older, 18 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19.

In Adams County, the total number of cases rose from 244 on Monday, July 13, to 293 on Monday, July 20. Of those, 148 individuals have recovered. Currently, no one has died and no one is hospitalized.

So far, 1,938 tests have been sent for testing from Adams County. Of those, 1,485 are negative. One hundred thirty-eight tests are pending.

Othello has had 283 confirmed cases, up from 234 cases last Monday. The other 10 cases are from Lind, Ritzville, Washtucna and Hatton. No new cases in these towns have been reported since the end of June.
