NATIONAL SUMMARY

Thunderstorms will rumble across portions of the interior

Northeast tomorrow. Some of the storms could produce flash

flooding and damaging winds. A spotty thunderstorm cannot be

ruled out in the Tennessee Valley. Farther west, an

afternoon thunderstorm or two is forecast in the northern

Plains, as well as the central and southern Rockies. The

highest elevations of the Sierra may have a thunderstorm in

the afternoon. The Desert Southwest and West Texas will

continue to be very hot. Many of those areas will experience

temperatures over 100 F, with the hottest locations in the

Southwest likely eclipsing 110. Much of the balance of the

nation will be in the 80s and 90s, save for the immediate

West Coast, as well as far northern and eastern New England,

where temperatures will be lower.
