NATIONAL SUMMARY

A tropical disturbance moving northward will spread

downpours along the mid-Atlantic and southern New England

coast tomorrow. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms will rumble

in the Ohio and Tennessee valleys as well as the Southeast.

Late-afternoon thunderstorms may turn strong in portions of

the northern Plains, particularly in South Dakota and

Nebraska. Much of the balance of the nation is likely to be

dry. Typical summertime heat and humidity will be

experienced in the Southeast. The southern High Plains will

be very hot, with many areas topping the century mark.

Extreme heat will be found in the Southwest, with high

temperatures even over 110 degrees for some areas outside of

the deserts.
