Launn Dean Schmidt

Launn Dean Schmidt, longtime resident of Moses Lake, passed away on July 2, 2020, after his battle with cancer. Launn was an MLHS alumnus.

Launn started his trucking adventures hauling wheat during harvest at the age of 16. He then drove semi dump trucks while working on the Lewiston grade. He progressed his career to logging on the coast driving double trailer semis for a company called Rygaard. He did all aspects of logging including setting chockers and fell trees. Later he made his home in Moses Lake and worked at Columbia Sand & Gravel on the crusher.

Launn enjoyed flying with his cousin Steven in several different Cessna airplanes, throughout his younger years. Launn raced motorcycles on several flat tracks around the area in completions. Launn loved fishing hunting and camping with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Launn had a good heart and will be greatly missed.

Launn was proceeded in death by his father Herbert Schmidt.

He is survived by his longtime companion Pam Tea; mother Bonnie Schmidt; siblings Connie Scott (Craig), Wade Schmidt (Cindy) and Tracy Schmidt (Cheryl); three children Jason Schmidt, Angie Jacquin and Colleen Crane and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
