NATIONAL SUMMARY

Widespread areas of showers and thunderstorms will continue

across the Southeast tomorrow as a stationary front remains

in place over the area. Some thunderstorms over the Gulf

Coast, from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, will be

especially heavy at times, bringing flash flooding to

low-lying and poorly drained areas. Meanwhile, throughout

the Great Lakes and Midwest, persistent heat will remain in

control. To the northeast, spotty showers and thunderstorms

will be seen mainly in New England late in the afternoon and

early evening. Thunderstorms will also continue throughout

the northern Plains, with some being especially strong to

severe, bringing potentially damaging winds. Above-average

heat will remain in place over the southwestern United

States from California to southern Utah.
