Betty Ann Gould Riley
December 4, 1943 – June 29, 2020
Betty Ann Gould Riley was called home by her Heavenly Father on June 29, 2020, at home in Warden, Washington.
The second daughter to Charles Alvo Gould and Meda Pearl Munn, Betty was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, on Dec. 4, 1943. She was raised there and graduated from Plymouth High School, then, Plymouth State University, where she received a teaching degree. It was in her family home where she would meet her future husband, Charles Anthony Riley. On Aug. 24, 1968, Betty married Charles (Chuck) in her hometown. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and raised a family. They would later be sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George, Utah, temple.
Betty stayed home to raise her two children, Kristi and Jeremy. When the children were in school, she resumed her career as an elementary teacher. She worked hard to gain her master’s degree in education while still working. She always found great joy in teaching.
She took great care in writing letters, cards, notes and journals. Ever ready to strike up a conversation, Betty loved people and was a great friend and confidant. Traveling was also a passion for her. Summer vacations would find her driving cross-country to visit family. She also spent cherished days, seeing the country, in a motor home with Chuck.
Family was everything to her. She often talked about growing up in beautiful New England with her loving family and visited every chance she got. She loved following her family members in their various activities. She was a collector of all things given her by her family. She cherished conversations, cards, letters and social media posts. Activities with her children and grandchildren such as playing cards, reading, drawing and eating Sunday popcorn were her favorite.
Betty loved her Savior and relied on His comfort in her later years. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. One of her choice experiences was being a temple ordinance worker at the Las Vegas, Nevada, temple.
Our beloved Betty is preceded in death by her father and mother, a sister Helen Marie Gould and a grandson Jack Charles Riley.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years Charles Anthony Riley; two children Kristi Richins (Wesley) of Warden, Washington, and Jeremy Charles Riley of Las Vegas, Nevada; 10 grandchildren Abigail Powell (Matthew), Rebekah Hebdon (Connor), Adam, Zachary, Grace and Megan Richins and Alexa, Vanessa, Robert and Sara Riley; four great-grandchildren Jessie Mae, Charlotte Kay, Greyson and Lauryn Joe; one sister Jo-Ann Alessandrini (Bernie) of Florida and two brothers Charles Gould (Catherine) of New Mexico, and Jonathan Gould (Rebecca) of New Hampshire.
