NATIONAL SUMMARY

Showers and thunderstorms will rumble across much of the

Southeast and up into portions of the mid-Mississippi Valley

tomorrow. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms are forecast in the

Plains, some of which could be strong in the Dakotas.

Afternoon thunderstorms will dot the central and southern

Rockies and back through northeastern Arizona. A shower or

two will dampen the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. The

balance of the nation looks to be dry. Temperatures will be

higher than recent days in much of the Northeast and Ohio

Valley, where several areas will be around 90 F. Highs in

the 90s will be common from the eastern Dakotas down through

Texas. Parts of southern Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, could

top the century mark. Typical summertime heat will continue

over the Desert Southwest.
